Nils Olav Bøe (b.1958) lives and works in Oslo. Educated at art academies in Oslo and Bergen.
Bøe has a number of exhibitions, including in Berlin, New York, Rio de Janeiro, London, Houston, Reykjavik, Stockholm and Oslo. In 2013 he participated in the exhibition "international discoveries", Photo Biennial Houston, USA. Norwegian Sculpture biennial, Vigeland Museum, Oslo. 2015/16.
In selection, purchased by Museum for Contemporary Art, Oslo, Gothenburg Art Museum, as well as national and international collectors.
“Bøe builds up small-scale miniature landscapes/scenes in his studio, which he lights and photographed with precision. The lighting of the tableaux and their final photographic is an important scenographical move. The result is strikingly ambiguous pictures, where the motifs of the tableaux are transformed into an almost higher unity through depiction in the photographical medium from three-dimensional to two-dimensional form.
